Medina Housing Co-operative, established in 1988, is a 44-unit townhouse complex in south-east Burnaby. The Co-op is home to a lively, diverse and inclusive membership that spans all generations.
We are very conveniently located . We are across the street from Stride Elementary School, which has soccer and basketball fields and playgrounds. The closest secondary school is Byrne Creek. We are a 5 minute walk from Edmonds Skytrain Station and Ron McLean park. Tommy Douglas Public Library and HighGate Centre with shopping and restaurants are also at an easy walking distance. A bike trail that runs along the Skytrain route is nearby.
The Co-op has 2- and 3-bedroom units. 3-bedroom units are on 3 levels and some have a small den. All units have a nice patio. In the interior there are grassy areas where children can play, as well as a small playground - see more photos . All units have stove, fridge, dishwasher and security alarm installed. The underground parking has a spot for each unit and a limited number of additional parking spots exist.
Full monthly housing charges range approximately from $1010 to $1180 for 3-bedroom, and $900 to $960 for 2-bedroom units (as of March 2012). Subsidy is available for a few units. Share price is approximately twice the monthly housing charge. We expect participation through co-op meetings, committee membership, work parties or regular assignments. You can check the CHF Web pages if you need more information on co-op housing. If you are interested in applying you can fill in our application form and send it to us either via mail or fax, and we will contact you to arrange an interview if a suitable unit becomes available. We suggest that you reapply approximately every 6 months to ensure your application is current. Our contact information is:
